Dowry is the money, goods or estate that given from the husband
to the wife in their wedding
Dowry is an ancient custom. In certain societies the dowry
formed a part of an exchange wealth between intermarrying families.
In India the dowry causes some problems for the bride’s
family
The father of the bride is the one who gives the dowry for
the groom. Some families are killed in case the father cannot catch up the sum.
So the number of killed people because of dowry is six and seven thousands each
year.
I am going to tell you a funny story about dowry in Jawa
Island in Pacific Ocean. Each one of the
couple who wants to get the marriage license should bring 25 rat tails. This
rule was issued by the government of Jawa to reduce the rats which were
threaten for Rice trees .The funny thing about this rule that the number of rat
tails increase or decrease depending on the beauty of the bride.
