Bloom's Taxanomy

Putting Bloom's Taxanomy into practice in class rooms is very effective in the process of developing students thinking. There are six categories in the thinking process. They are organized from the lower order thinking skills to the higher order thinking skills as follows:
  • Remembering- Recognising, listing, describing, identifying, retrieving, naming.
  • Understanding- Interpreting, summarising, inferring, paraphrasing, classifying, exemplifying.
  • Applying- Implementing, carrying out, using, executing.
  • Analysing- Comparing, organising, deconstructing, attributing, outlining, finding.
  • Evaluating- Checking, hypothesising, critiquing, experimenting, judging, testing.
  • Creating-  Designing, constructing, planning, producing, inventing, devising, making.
From my point of view, the most important thing here is to have the ability and patience to put those element into practice. The result would be fabulous

  1. thanks for highlighting them here, because it's important to know these categories and follow them all in the process of teaching

  2. Bloom has done a great favor for educators by introducing those thinking levels. It's important to remembr however that Bloom's levels of thiking don't always go in a hirarchy; at many times different levels might overlap especially when we design tasks at the higher levels.

  3. It is true that recognizing the importance of using Taxonomy's thinking levels in teaching enriches students' performance at all levels and drives teaching methods away from traditional styles to more involving and integrating styles in order to meet new generation's demand for learning; thank you Majida.

  4. this will be helpful for us in doing our final project. it is a good idea to put them here because it will be easy for us to take our needed information from these ideas.

  5. IT is an important plan that a teacher can make and apply it that leads to critical thinking and for understanding

  6. As you said girls levels of thinking is very important for increasing the achievements of the students but the problem is in some teachers nowadays they only focus on the first three levels of Bloom's taxonomy specially knowledge which decrease the validity of the exams and affect the thinking of the students and methods of teaching in a negative way so according to me as an effective teacher i will try my best to solve such a problem to evoke the critical thinking of the learners .

  7. Knowledge base, and Comprehension is the most common level for testing the students, but this is not enough! Is is very important for all teachers to get to know this taxonomy, because it is important to to let the students experience all the levels of thinking, and not just to be tested for them.

  9. It is very important to put these information here and as you said these are very important details that every teacher must follow in her job to let the students experience all the levels of thinking, good job Majiida and thanks for your help.
